Wow, has it been that long since the last update? What the hell has Eo7 been up to? We'll tell you....though we can't tell you everything quite yet!

Originally, we were looking to get into the studio about now to record some new material, but that's been put on hold as something more important has come up. Suffice to say, the band is now in rehearsals with new drummer Micheal "Swash" Zelonis, and Eo7 founder Robert Takacs moving from keys to his main instrument and first love, guitar. The band is feeling and sounding better than we have in years! 2014 is potentially going to be a very big year for us depending on how the next couple of months go. All we can do is play our best, do our best, have fun, and let the Universe unfold as it should. Once we get the OK from our management, we will disclose the full details of what is happening. Trust us when we say that it's pretty damned cool!

Join us on Facebook if you haven't already!

Speaking of Facebook, have you hear our song about Facebook?

Hey guys, Robert here. Sorry for the lack of updates, but we've mainly been focusing on writing new material so we can rock the studio in early 2014. Aside from that, I've been working with Adobe After effects learning new techniques that will possibly be used in upcoming Eo7 videos.

Thursday night, Steve and myself were at NIN here in Vancouver. Simply amazing show, and very inspiring to say the least! That's the level we deserve to be at, and that's the ultimate goal. With the holidays coming up, things will slow down a bit as we spend more time with family & friends, but I always get a lot of cool stuff done this time of year as I have more time to myself. Some very cool stuff is in the works for 2014, so stay tuned for updates!

Amal and I listening to potentially new Eo7 music last night after checking out "Machete Kills" at Silvercity Metropolis. Great mindless fun flick! Over the top humor & violence...just turn your brain off and enjoy. Afterwards we came back to my home studio & listened to a number of new Eo7 "songlets" as I now call them (I'm trademarking that word, if you use it, you owe me a quarter! :D).
Basically short riffs, runs, melodies, verses, choruses etc, that could grow into new Eo7 music. We decided on about 5 or 6 ideas that I'll now be working into full songs. The plan is to get into the studio in early 2014 and crank out a few new tunes, and a new video shoot perhaps around the Spring......though that's very tentative at this point.

In other news, "Motherfucker" is now live on iTunes, and most other onlines music retailers, go get your copy now!

As you can tell from the above image, new music is now in the works, with the band entering the studio in early 2014. Great new things are coming!

Sunday August 25, 2013

Summer is winding down, but the music machine keeps churning as it always will. I've completed the lyrics video for our song "Motherfucker", so give it a peek!

So lately, I (it's Robert writing this, by the way) have been working on various pieces of music. A lot of new Eo7 is in the works, but I've also started an electronic side project called "Retro Future Machine". It's realy just for fun, and to put whatever I feel like putting, no matter how obscure, into music. The first track, "Hunk of Metal" is online, so go check it out, subscribe and share!

Now in addition to all that, I've just completed my first attempt at an orchestral piece. Yup, orchestral. Violins, cellos, trumpets, etc. The song is a 2:27 little ditty that I call "Train to Budapest", seeing I'm Hungarian and I love travelling by train when I'm there. It's on my new youtube page, "Robtakacsmusic". So if you want to hear something that's entirely different give it a listen!

Was going through some old Eo7 demos from back when the "band" was just one guy (me). Found some cool stuff that we used to play shortly after the live band was assembled, that was dropped from the set for whatever reason. Think I might upload some of it. What do you guys think, anyone up for some
Eo7 "Retro"?

So I've found the original mix of a song of ours called"Motherf*cker" (which was never released), along with some other really cool unreleased stuff. Doing a bit of a remix/remaster before I put it out, it's gonna sound cool! Once it's ready, gonna get it up on iTunes, and post it here. Don't worry, it'll be in the the form of a youtube video, so you'll be able to listen & share to your hearts' content! Working on it right now!

*UPDATE*
Remaster of 'Motherf*cker" is done! gonna get it up on iTunes, and I'm doing a "lyrics" video for it as well, so you can all sing along I'll get it uploaded asap guys!

A lot of music being made on the homefront recently! I'm just about finished my first orchestral piece! Yes, you read that right, I'm delving into orchestral music, and this initial piece is coming along quite nicely, in fact it should be online in the next couple of days.

The songwriting urge is very strong as of late, there is so much new music just aching to spew forth from my demented psyche, I almost don't know where to start! In the last few years, I started writing a number of new Eo7 tracks, but I kind of reached a dead end and couldn't seem to get them where I wanted them. Lately however, new ideas are overflowing, and Eo7 is going through a "reinvention" of sorts. The musical soul will always be "Eo7", but there are changes coming, and they will be awesome!

I've also done a new video of sorts, for a previously unreleased Eo7 track called "Out of Your Mind", and you can view it on the video page.

On some unrelated news, I'm going to See Bill Maher tonight here in Vancouver at the Queen Elizabeth Theater! One of my favorite comedians, and one of the most intelligent as well. Summer in Vancouver is pretty awesome, hope you guys are having a great Summer too!

Be back soon with more updates! ~Robert

Wow, I haven't updated this news section in close to a year! To be honest, I do most of the updates on our Facebook page, which you should probably go and "Like" right now. Since our last show, we've taken a bit of a hiatus so that members can recharge, maybe work on other projects, etc. I myself have started a new electronic side project called "Retro Future Machine", go have a listen to the first track "Hunk of Metal". In addition, I've been working on my first orchestral piece, which I hope to have completed in the next week. Seeds have also been planted for new Edges music! Whenever I write, I almost always come up with ideas for new songs that I record, and put aside to work on later. That's been happening a lot lately, so new music is in the works.

We've also just released a "lyrics" video for a new song "Ride", you can check that out on the video page.

In addition, I'm working on an "Audio react" video for yet another unreleased song, "Out of your Mind". "Audio react" is basically a video of a simple graphic that pulses, or "reacts" to the beat of the song. It's simple, but cool. That will be up soon as well. There will be some cool stuff happening in the coming months, and we'll bring to you here first! Well...probably on the Facebook page first, but then it will be here!

So the Summer is winding down, and it's back to business. We had a great video release show at China Beach in Langley, BC on July 28, and you now see our debut video for the single "Infinity" on the video page! We have an announcment pending and this one might have some visual surprises, the only way you'll know is to keep checking here.

Welp, things are moving along...Eo7 is moving back into our old rehearsal studio. Doesn't sound too exciting I know, but we had some of our best, most productive times as a band at Diamond Sharp! I personally am very much looking forward to getting back into our old room.

We have a lot of people asking when we're playing next....well at the moment we're working on a video release party for sometime in July, most likely at The Red Room Ultra Bar here in Vancouver. We've played there a number of times and have had some great times there. We'll post it here as soon as it's confirmed.

Welcome to the new Edges of Seven website!

It's been a long time coming, and if you've followed the band for a few years, you may have noticed several changes. Where to start? New members. In August of 2010, Eo7 founder Robert Takacs stepped down as frontman, and moved to keys/backing vocals. There were a few reasons for this, mainly, he was not fully comfortable as the focus. Enter AmAlien, formerly of fellow Vancouverites "Prox". It took a while for him to get his feet wet, but once things fell into place, the wheels really started turning. A year later, we parted ways with drummer Jason Hagan, and welcomed Justin Krem to the band. The reasons for this change remain within the band, and we will keep it this way for now.

The band also recorded 6 new songs in 2011, as well as shot their first video for the new single "Infinity" (now available on iTunes). A number of well received shows in late 2011/early 2012 fine tuned us into a machine, and our management is currently shopping us in the U.S.

As far as web related things go, we spend a lot of our time on our Facebook page, and Twitter, so we hope you'll join us on both. This new website has been a long time coming, and we hope you dig it, and will share it with your friends!

Updates will be frequent, new music is coming, videos, band interviews, iPhone/Android apps, etc. For those of you that have been with us since the beginning, we sincerely thank you for sticking with us! For those newer friends, we welcome you to the Eo7 family and hope that you will stick a
